Have you ever been woken up by a man digging up your grave? Have you ever been hunted down by a human that can mutate into a beast? In the book Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace, all of these events take place. This book is sure to send chills down your spine when you read it.
Breezy, a girl that got murdered by an unknown man wakes up from her grave and killed the man trying to dig up her grave. She and her family were murdered while they were eating dinner on what was supposed to be a peaceful night. Breezy goes on the run to find the rest of her family and ends up at a gas station. She gets into a car with a murderer and knows that he is a murderer because of the black shadow. While driving with him he pulled off the highway onto a dirt road and tried to kill her. With a tug on his wrist, he slumped over the steering wheel and died. She had to walk a mile to a Dunkin Donuts to get out of the rain. She meets a group of elderly people. “They are too old to hurt me.” Just by looking at them she can tell that they are all guilty but can’t hurt her. One of the elderly women sitting at the table drove her to a church where she could stay for a night.
When Breezy entered the church, she was greeted by a girl named Violet. Violet introduced Breezy to her family and got her some clean clothes to wear. Breezy sees that the whole family is guilty and tried to escape, only to be hunted down and brought back to the church. Breezy was forced to drink a concoction made if crushed beetles. After she drank it, she was thrown into a room splattered with blood. In the room, there was another girl named Rain. When the owner of the church’s apprentice comes to get Breezy and Rain, Breezy pulls on his wrist and kills him. After she kills him, she gets the memories of all the kids he has killed. A boy named Zeke comes to pick up both girls and takes them to a house that belongs to a woman named Ingrid. Ingrid told Breezy that she will find the man that killed her and her family and she will get revenge. Rain ends up staying at Ingrid's house and Breezy stayed with Zeke and his brother. “You aren’t afraid of me?” Zeke’s brother Jake took care of Breezy while Zeke left. After Breezy left. She found the rest of her family and lived happily ever after.
This book was an excellent book. I would rate this book a 10/10. The author put so much thought and detail into the book. I would suggest this book to mystery fans. This book is an addicting book to read. When you read this book you never know what to expect on the next page. This book shows how it is good to be courageous and fearless.
